How would you define your style or approach to providing DJ entertainment?
Our DJ’s have a professional “cheese-free” approach to announcements and microphone work & are skilled at mixing tracks. Many DJs think that it is their job to put on a show and be the center of attention at the reception. We believe firmly that your wedding is your show, and we have no interest in taking the spotlight from you. Your dance floor will be packed, but it will be because the DJ selected just the right songs from your request list and mixed them in just the right sequence – not because he chattered endlessly on the microphone. We also don’t harass your guests into joining us on the dance floor.
I don’t want the music at my wedding to be traditional wedding music. Can you do that?
Absolutely! We’re not at all attached to tradition – your Maui Wedding DJ is here to play the music you request, and to mix it in a way that will create the kind of wedding you’ve envisioned.
Do you offer additional services, such as ceremony musicians, lighting and Hula/Firedancers?
At Maui Beats, we focus on what we know best: a DJ providing soundsystems & music for ceremonies & receptions. If live ceremony musicians are your preference, we’re glad to refer you to the area’s most talented bands, guitarists, ukulele players, harpists and more. As for lighting, we can provide simple to medium setups, but we strongly feel that quality lighting is a complex luxury service that should be furnished by a lighting design specialist. How involved are you in choosing the music playlist for our event?
As involved as you would like us to be. You will have the ability to completely customize your playlists for the DJ to spin & weave his magic. We love it when clientele give us at least 10 of their favorite artists, songs & a genres of music they would like. This gives us a clear direction which way to go from there. Some clients give us an exact playlist they would like played & let our DJ’s do the mixing. Others just prefer to trust us after giving a few examples of what they like. As you Maui Wedding DJ, we are more than willing to provide you with a multitude of suggestions based on your preferences, and we’re perfectly comfortable selecting most (or all) of the music if you aren’t interested in doing so. Our extensive knowledge of music enables us to work with your requests and create a mood that reflects your tastes while creating a great atmosphere for all of your guests. In addition, we specialize in multicultural music such as Latin, African, Indian music & more!
What kind of music do you have in your collection?
You can choose between huge collections of Oldies, Rock, Pop, Country, Blues, Hawaiian, Reggae & all styles of Electronic Dance music & then some! We carry an extensive music selection to cater to any occasion, with over 60,000 songs to choose from! With music from the 50’s to the most current hits of today, We are sure to have something that will please you and your guests of all ages! Also, we take requests & if for some reason we don’t have your song aleady, it can be played via YouTube & plugged into our DJ mixer.
Do you have a microphone we can use?
Yes. Two wireless mics are provided at no extra cost for all packages.
How does payment for your services work?
50% deposit by Paypal or mailed check prior to event, the other 50% payment on site at the event the day of. We send out an invoice & contract to be returned by email or mail with your signature which seals the deal. This retainer reserves and guarantees the services of Maui Beats for your event, and includes unlimited consultations to you in providing music planning assistance.
We have a video/slideshow at our event. Can we plug into your system for sound?
Yes. Provided you have an RCA cable long enough to reach from your video player to the DJ mixer. Maui Beats offers slideshow packages as well if you would rather leave it in our hands for a seamless transition.
Do you have karaoke?
Can we hook up a karaoke unit to your system?
Yes. Please bring enough cable to reach from your karaoke unit to the DJ mixer. RCA plugs (the red and white ones used to connect your VCR/DVD player) are most common. Spare cables aren’t always available.
We’re also having a live band/solo music artist. Can they plug into your system?
Yes, small to medium bands no problem….up to 5 inputs in our Mackie mixing board for them to plug into. Normally, bands come with their own set of amps and speakers. Sometimes it’s just a one-piece guitarist or two-piece duet, which is always no problem for Maui Beats to provide mics & sound. Sometimes it’s a big group with more then 5 inputs & in that case it is still possible to work something out.
Do you take requests?
Always. I play for the crowds & play what they want to hear!
Will you be playing at the party?
Yes. There are no other DJ’s that will be playing for 99% of our events. I am the owner/operator of Maui Beats.
What if you get sick or something happens?
I network with many other professional DJ’s that are a phone call away.
What are your needs at our venue?
We require adequate power (standard wall plugins that are 120-volt, 15-amp circuit on a grounded outlet) within 60 feet of where the DJ will be set up. We provide our own table with black or white linens, but if you require special colors it is up to you to provide.
Are you insured?
Yes. Maui Beats has a full liability insurance policy with a coverage value of $2,000,000. We are happy to provide you or your venue with a copy of our insurance policy upon request.
What kind of equipment do you use?
We use state of the art new JBL PRX Series speakers, Mackie Mixers, Vestax DJ Mixers & other name brands of great sounding audio gear. Wireless microphones are always provided, and wireless speakers are available if needed by the venue (they are great for outdoor ceremony sites where there is no power).
How much do you charge?
Get a QUOTE and you will see. My personal DJ Pricing is in the middle range. I believe my VALUE (ratio of quality to price) is exceptional. Unlike other Maui Wedding DJ ’s, I believe in Instant Price quotes. I keep my prices at a level where I don’t have to talk clients into my services. I prefer to let my website, reviews, videos & testimonials do most of the talking for me.
